THE DUNLOP £SOO CONTEST COURSE RECORD BROKEN .LONDON, October 11. The Dunlop £SOO tournament inaugurated for professionals who have won various championships is being played at Walton Heath over 72 holes. E. Whitcombe led the field in the first two rounds with 69 and 69, a course record, followed by Busson, 70 and 70; Denny, 73 and 70; Cotton, 71 and 72; C. Whitcombe, 69 and 76; Hodgson, 73 and 72: Adams, 72 and 73; King, 75 and 71; R. Whitcombe, 72 and 74; Alliss, 73 and 73; Seymour, 72 and 74; Ward, 71 and 75. The others include Padgham, 74 and 75; Davies, 76 and 73; Duncan, 80 and 71; Mitchell, 75 and 77. BYSTANDER FOURSOMES LONDON, October 11. In the Bystander Foursomes (fourth round) Lady'Eddis and Miss Ewin defeated Mrs Williams and Miss Williams (New Zealand), 5 and 4. AUSTRALIAN OPEN TITLE SYDNEY, October 12. (Received Oct. 12, at 10.30 p.m.) Ideal weather prevailed for the second round of *the Australian Open Golf Championship and the scores were generally better than yesterday. Bolger continiii-s to lend the field as the result of a steady par round. He is closely followed by Sponce, a young Leura professional, .who returued that best 'card of the day. Spence was in the bunkers on a number of occasions, but recovered brilliantly. Bettington, after being out in 40, returned with 4, 4,3, 4,3, 4,4, 3, 4 for 33, which is four under par. Sarazen and Kirkwood, who were followed by large galleries, were again troubled by the pace of the greens, but are within striking distance of the leaders. The leading 60 will play the final of 36 holes to-morrow. .
