Siß, —In the published report of the last meeting of the Waitaki County Council it was reported that the chairman and engineer were authorised to. appoint a new grader driver for the Otekaike Riding. It is the opinion of a large number of, ratepayers that when the cry of unemployment is heard throughout the length and breadth of the land, the. council should ■ not retain in its service a surfaceman who is of independent- means and is therefore not in the slightest degree in need of the work.—l am, etc., ...
