MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
TO THE EDITOR Sib,—ln your issue of the 14th lnst. I notice the North Otago selections for the Lewis and Falconer Shield matches to be shot at Timaru on September 22. Ido riot know the method adopted by the North. . Otago selector in choosing his teams, but cannot let his choice from the Hampden Club pass without comment. W. Ford was the selection from Hampden Club, and on his shooting,- three other Hampden riflemen were entitled to a place ahead of him, a s the following results will show —In the local club championship shoots, won by O. C. Gould, his scores were 79,. 78,' 80, 78, 79, 78—total. 472. W. D. Moss was second with scores of 80, 78, 80, 78, 78, 78—total, 472. W. Ford came third with 78, 79, 79, 78, 70— total, 469. In the North Otago _ Shield Competition, W. Ford was again well down, as the following figures show: —Len Caldwell, 78, 78, 77, 77—311; 0. C Gould, 78, 79, 78, 76—311; W. D. Moss, 78, 77, 76, 78—309; W. Ford, 78, 76, 76, 76—305. At the recent North Otago championship meeting the following was the result:—O. Gould 79, 78, Len Caldwell 79, 78, W. D. Moss 79, 77, W. Ford 80, 76. If figures prove anything, I ask the North Otago selector what he was thinking about when he made his selection from the Hampden Club? —I am, etc., Merit.
