MINIATURE RIFLE COMPETITIONS
NOVELTY SHOOT FINAL. On Monday evening the Returned Soldiers’ Small-bore Rifle Club completed another snap shooting match, and finalised the novelty shoot, 'A Trip to Timnru.” The scores in the snap shooting were: W. Goudie 49, S. Spratt 47, J. Harrison 46, H. Edmonds 45, G. Ferens 45, D. Rowntree 45, S. Ewens 44, 1). Marr 43, C. James 36, J. M‘Kee 31, W. Meikle 30, T. Menzies 28, J. Allan 28, C. Johnston 23. In tlie final stage of the novelty shoot, W. Meikle, J. Allan, and G. Ferens were all packed and ready to move when the “guard’s whistle blew.” W. Meikle, at Otuio, required a 93 to take him to Timaru, J. Allan and G, Ferens, waiting at Makakitn, required 94 each to pass Pareora, where they were liable to run into trouble. W. Meikle, evidently the more experienced traveller, managed to arrive safely at Timaru. with a good 93, and won the competition. Allan and Ferens were short of the required score, and, arriving at Pareora, found they were obliged to return to Makakitn and rest awhile. The final placing* in this competition were as follows: . Arrived Timaru, W. Meikle; Otaio—J. Potter, J. Harrison, and T.. Menzies; Makakitn—O. Holden, J. Jndson, J. iVllan, G Ferens, and C. James; Wannate —J M‘Kcc, D. Marr; Pukeuri Junction —fi. Ewens, D. Rowntree; Onmaru—H. White, W. Goudie; Herbert— J.bpratt, C. Johnston. R. Bowie, D. M Kay and A. Nickels were unable to proceed beyond Waikouaiti. , . , The following will represent the club in the A Grade Interchib Competition Match against C.F.H. on Monday evening:—Messrs J. Judeon, D. Marr, J. M‘Kee, T. Menzies, O. Holden, J. Potter, J. Allan, N. White, W. Goudie, F. Hamson.
