FREMANTLE TRAGEDY THE ACCUSED REMANDED FREMANTLE, September 13. Examination of the body of Carmelo Mentisano revealed 73 wounds, which had been inflicted with a long, heavy filleting knife. Concetta Ciaquinta was remanded on a charge of murder. Carmelo Mentisano, aged 36, an Italian, was found dying in a cottage on the waterfront with deep gashes in his head. One arm was almost severed and the other arm and legs were deeply gashed in at least 20 places. Concetta Ciaquinta, aged 30, who lived wuth her husband in the same house as the dead man, was subsequently arrested on a charge of wilfully murdering Mentisano. THE ELECTORAL ROLL SYDNEY, September 13. An official return furnished by the Commonwealth electoral officer shows that 96,718 more persons arc eligible to vote on Saturday than''three years ago, the figures being 1,529,870, compared with 1,433,152. COMPANY MANAGER ARRESTED MELBOURNE, September 13. (Received Sept. 13, at 9 p.m.) Charged with having defrauded certain persons in New Zealand of £14,000, Charles Ernest Vickers, company manager, was remanded until an escort arrives from New Zealand. The police informed the court that Vickers was arrested as he was about to sail for Singapore. He was granted bail conditionally upon reporting to the detective office daily until the escort arrives.
