FASCISM AND WAR
DUNEDIN COUNCIL. A meeting of the Dunedin Council Against Fascism and War was held on Wednesday last. Mr A. B. Powell was elected chairman. A report from the Provisional Committee was read and adopted. Correspondence was.received from the secretary of the New Zealand Movement Against Fascism and War reporting the proceedings of a national antiwar conference on August 4 and 5. The main result of the conference was to lay the basis of branch organisations throughout New Zealand. The secretary was instructed to forward to the National Committee a report of the activities of the Dunedin Council. It was decided to publish a manifesto drawing attention to the great danger of war and staling the objective and programme of the council. It was resolved that a deputation from the council approach the various trade unions with a view to securing their collaboration in resisting war propaganda and preparation. The Provisional Committee was authorised to make arrangements for a public meeting at which the policy of the Anti-War Council would lie explained and the horrors of war illustrated by means of lantern slides. The chairman urged all those who realised their moral responsibility to use every means to make fbe council a powerful force in resisting Fascism and war.
