From Lincoln comes news of an import .nit discovery. A farmer and his brother-in-law were walking over a field, and the farmer said that in one part of the field nothing w’onld grow but weeds. His kinsman noticed something looking like mosaic showing among the weeds. They began to dig, and found a Roman pavement in red, white and blue tesserae. Mr Fred Taylor, the farmer, called in the curators of the Lincoln and Newark Museums, whose stall' uncovered two fine pavements. Here once stood an important villa, close to the Roman Fosse Way, and near the elation of Croccolaua, or Brough. Besides the 'handsome pavements, one about 20ft by 16ft, roof tiles, plaster, and an ISin wall have been found.
