AN UNSUCCESSFUL VENTURE COMMITTEE OF SOCIETY RESIGNS. (Peb United Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 31. An extraordinary general meeting _of the Aucldand Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals to-night adopted a new constitution and rules and carried a motion expressing alarm at the financial position and no confidence in the committee. The meeting also resolved to direct the committee to sell the Blue Cross Hospital and Stray Animals’ Home at Penrose, which the society purchased last year and which was formally opened in April by the Governor-General (Lord Blcdisloe). The statement of accounts showed a deficit of £449 on the working of the homo to the end of July. Prior to the meeting the committee notified that the resignations of all its members had been handed to the president (Sir Walter Stringer), who is at present in Dunedin, to be made operative at bis discretion.
