BOY KILLED BY TRAIN (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 29. Ronald Hansen, aged 15, was killed at the railway crossing at New Lynn about noon to-day, when a train crashed into the bicycle he was riding. Claude M’Leod, aged 14, who was double-bank-ing on the bicycle with Hansen, escaped injury. KILLED BY FALLING BRANCH fPnii United Fresh Association. t CHRISTCHURCH, August 29. . Alfred Duffel 1, aged 44 years, a relief worker, was killed to-day while cutting branches off a tree at the Rangiora racecourse. He had been given permission to cut branches off the trees for firewood. He was in a foi*k of a tree cutting a branch when it fell, crushing him severely and killing him instantly. YOUNG GIRL DROWNED (Per United Press Association) INVERCARGILL. August 29. . A drowning fatality occurred in the Pourakino River, near Riverton, last evening, the body of Letitia Josephine Wells, aged 14 years, being found in tbe water,, She was a daughter of Mr Frederick Wells, engine driver at Moi-e’s Mill. Granity, and lived at the mill. Her brother last saw her at 6.30 p.m., and an hour later her body was found. It is thought that while on the bridge she became faint and fell into the river, which is only a few chains from her home. ' GORED BY BULL Jack Cbnrnley, a farm hand, was gored in the stomach bv a bull when working at Higheliff yesterday. He was admitted to the Hospital, but his condition is not serious. KICKED BY HORSE A seven-year-old boy named Philip William Powell, residing at Pino Hill, was taken to the Hospital at 9.30 this morning suffering from a fractured skull and severe facial injuries. His name was placed on the dangerously ill list. The injuries were received when he was trying to catch a horse, which kicked him in the face.
