Sir F. Acland, the Liberal M.P. for North Cornwall, said in the Commons recently: “If I had an office boy I should not want him to know how to use the telephone. I could teach him that myself in ton minutes. What I should want would be a boy who, on the spur of the moment, could give an adequate excuse over the telephone for my not being back from lunch at 3 o’clock.”
