BOBBY CALF INDUSTRY
ABOLITION ADVOCATED. (Pee United Press Association) WELLINGTON, August . 29. A decision to support the abolition of the bobby calf industry and in the meantime to advocate certain reforms in the control of the industry was reached at the annual meeting of the Federated New Zealand Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The president (Mr G, Mitchell) said that the industry was quite nauseating. Among the remits carried, were requests to the Government to prohibit the shooting of captive birds, the coursing of hares in enclosures, that the funds of S.P.C.A. societies be subsidised by the State, and that free railway passes be provided for. inspectors.
