CHAMPIONSHIPS AT • RUAPEHU T. W. MITCHELL WINS TITLE:/ (Per United Press Assocmips.i AUCKLAND, August 2S, perfect weather: was, agajn_ experienced for'the second da.v of New Zealand amateur ski championships at Mount Ruapehu to-day, and the long distance atjd slalom events were decided under good snow conditions.- - : ; A. great improvement has taken, place recently in the slalom as in other- branches of eki-mg in New Zealand. On the: present occasion (at least 10 .men completed both descents*ot the course in good time, and with -Complete control. Mitchell'completed his two runs without a fall at, astonishing speed. His margin of victory, however, was-ijot nearly as great as iu 1932. ■ .- _ In the women’s slalom Mrs A.B. Edwardes, Tast -year’s winner, retained.'-her title by a small margin.
