TOURNAMENT IN FRANCE CRAWFORD BEATS M'GRATH ; :.I PARIS, August 27. In the Houlgate tournament finals Crawford defeated M'Grath, 7—5, &—4, 6—l. Crawford and Mrs Crawford' defeated Renault and Mrs Morel Delville,';7—s, B—6. ’ Crawford .started badly. In the first round of the Eastern grass court championships at Rye, Miss Nuthall defeated Miss Jacobs (New York), 6—2, 6—o; Miss Stammers defeated Miss Helen Pederson - (Stamford, Connecticut), 7—5, 6-—3; Miss James defeated Miss Helen Murray (Yonkers, New York), 6—l, 6—o.
