CONCERT AT EAST TAIERI
A very successful concert, was given in the Riccarton Hall, East, Taieri, in aid of the piano fund. Mr A. Miller presided. The .programme was supplied by Begg’s Orchestra and concert party, Mr J. F. Himburg conducting. The orchestra presented five selections. Voea! solos were , sung by Miss Dorothy Sligo '(“ Carrisiriia ” and “ Love’s a Merchant”), Mrs Searle (“My Hero” and “Love is King To-day”), and Mr C. Hawes (“The Legion of the Lost ” and “ On the Road to Mandalay”). Miss Leonore M'Kenzie entertained with humorou s recitations, ‘‘The Council Election ” and “Hen in Church.” Mr Himburg played a horn solo, “ One Fleeting Hour, and Mr J. Coutts a piano nbvcllv item. Every item received encores, and the accompaniments were played by Miss Muriel Cad-, die. An enjoyable dance followed the concert.
