PRIVATE ENTERPRISE PLAN GOVERNMENT ALLOWS FREE HAND. (Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 31. The Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) said to-day that it was not' the intention of the Government to place any obstacle in the way of a private syndicate taking over the Napier-Gisbornc railway. He had discussed the matter • fully with Mr W. D. Lysnar, who was acting for those interested in the project, and had laid down the general terms under which the Government would hand over the line to private enterprise. He said that Mr Lysnar was fully satisfied with the Government’s terms. Mr-Forbes said he was unable to make public the terms laid down. To a question if any price had been mentioned in the discussion, he replied in the negative.
