PETROL “WAR” IN SYDNEY SETTLEMENT ANNOUNCED SYDNEY, July 31. The petrol “ war ” has ended, and from this morning the prices which obtained before the dispute will again be in force. First grade will be Is 6d and second grade Is 6d. RAIN IN NEW SOUTH WALES . SEVERAL AREAS FL/DODED • SYDNEY, July 31. The flood danger on the north coast has abated, but serious floods in the Windsor, Richmond and Camden districts are threatened. Communications are cut off by the flooded Hawkesbury River, and the waters are still rising. Terrific rain in the Nepean watershed caused the catchment area dams to overflow. Hundreds of acres of vegetables and crops were ruined. Mails and supplies are being carried across the flooded areas by boats. Rough seas are reported along. 600 miles of the New South Wales coast. Shipping is seriously hampered. THE OVERSEAS TRADE FAVOURABLE : BALANCE CANBERRA, July 31. The Commonwealth Statistician’s figures for overseas trade for . the year ended Juno 30 show that Australia’s favourable trade balance was £38,325,000. ' Exports of merchandise were valued at £90,698,000, and imports at £59,707,000. Exports of bullion and specie were valued at £8,612,000, and imports at £1,278,000. The exports showed a marked decline in June, mainly because of the decreased exports of butter and wool. '
