TABLE TENNIS NOTES
The following are the results of matches played on July 25: A Grade.—Aotea defeated Lands and Survey 12 —4, Y.M.D. defeated Railway 9—7, St.- Andrew Street I defeated St. Patrick’s I (on points) 442—428, Y.M.C.A. defeated St. Hilda 7—2. B Grade. —St. Paul’s Anglican defeated Anglican Harriers 16 —0, Education defeated D.I.C, 9—7, D.S.A. I defeated St. Hilda Anglican 10—6, Grange defeated St. Patrick’s II 12 —4, St. Andrew Street II defeated D.S.A. II 10—6. IMPOSITION OF TEAMS. A Grade.
defaulted one man each. Y.M.C.A. TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT. A handicap table tennis tournament was held in the Y.M.C.A. on July 19. There was an excellent entry in the men’s section, 41 taking part. Excellent play was witnessed during the evening. J. H. Don Miller, Otago champion, defeated W. H. Cole 41—26. M. Milburn and B. Boyd were the finalists, both youngsters playing tennis of a high order. Milburn played well in the semifinal to beat Miller 31 —22. Boyd won tb e final after a good game. Both showed great promise, and should be amongst the scratch men next year. The ladies’ section was_ rather disappointing, only eight participating. it was won by Miss Scott, Miss Fogarty being the runner-up. Mr Miller was on scratch in the men’s section and Miss Fogarty in the ladies’.
