SOUTH OTAGO
BALCLUTHA South Otago High School A basketball team visited Dunedin on Monday and played the Otago High School A team, the result being a victory for the home team by 16 goals to 6. Prior to their departure for the Oamaru district, Mr Peter Murray, sen., and'Mr Peter Murray, jun., and family, of Barnego, were entertained at a dance, and presented with suitable gifts in token of the high esteem in which they were held. Mr 11. C. Holgate presided, and made the presentation. The recently formed sub-association of the R.S.A. held a successful reunion in the Dalton Hall, the attendance numbering about 120. Mr F. Waite presided, and made reference to the South African veterans, who were welcomed as members of the organisation to-day. Mr B. Ellis, president of the South African veLerana, also spoke. Among the other speakers were the Mayor (Mr D. T. Fleming), Ir R. R. Grigor, and Mr A. E. Stewart. Clutha is now running second for the senior grade Rugby banner with 17 points to Crescent’s 20. Toko is third with 15 banner points. In the Second Grade, Valley leads with 20 banner points, Coast coining second with 16,' while Woodlands and Crescent are equal with 12 points. Tenders are invited for the supply of 2000 cubic yards of stone for river protection purposes at Mr' A. J. Betting’s property, Inch Clutha.
