A questionnaire sent by Bishop M'Connell, Dr Cadman, Dr Fosdick, and other clergymen of the United States to over 20,000 ministers of churches elicited 6ome interesting answers on war and armaments. Over 10,000 favoured the United States joining the League of-Nations, nearly 6000 opposed it, and over 4000 were in doubt. On the question of military training in schools, colleges, and universities, 17,000 were against it, 2500 favoured it, and 973 said they were unable to express an opinion. That substantial reductions in armaments should be made, even if the United States is compelled to take the initiative and make a proportionately greater reduction than other nations ar« prepared to do, was supported bv nearly 16,000 and opposed by 3200, while 1300 were in doubt. Nearly 14,000 votes in favour of the churches refusing to sanction or support any future war. -
