MELBOURNE CENTENARY

EMPIRE PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION INVITATION TO NEW ZEALAND DELEGATE {From Oub Parliamentary Kepo*ter.j WELLINGTON, July 30. An invitation for one delegate from the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association to visit Victoria for the Melbourne centenary celebrations in November next has been received from the Victorian branch of the association. The delegate will be selected at the annual meeting of the New Zealand branch on August 8. The invitation is signed by the joint presidents of the Victorian branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association, who are the President of the Legislative Council (Sir Frank Clarke) and Mie Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (Tvlr Maurice Blackburn). The Victor'an Government will pay the return steauv;r fare from New Zealand and the Victorian hotel expenses of the delegate representing the Dominion. Free railway facilities throughout the visit will also be provided by the Government of Victoria. The New Zealand delegate will have an opportunity of meeting the delegates from the other branches of the association.

The Victorian branch is hopeful that the delegates may find an opportunity for informal conferences on matters of wide interest and Empire concern. These conferences, while not having any official standing, will have the approval of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia. The proposal is that the New Zealand delegate should leave Wellington by the Wanganolla on October 25.
