GOLF IN SCOTLAND
THE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP M'LEAN DEFEATS CAMPBELL LONDON, July 2s. (Received July 20, at S p.m.) At Western Gailos in the Scottish Amateur Golf Championship final, J. M'Lcan defeated W. Campbell 3 nr.d 1. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club announces that Messrs Michael Scott, T. A. Bourn, L. G. Garnett and J. M’Lean have accepted invitations to join the team for Australia in the autumn. Mr Gallon, the Royal and Ancient Club s secretary, will be manager, and Scott captain. , . , M'Lean has now created a precedent in winning the Scottish Championship on three occasions. He led in the first round bv three holes —-71 against the ex-international player Campbell’s 74. An excellent display included a birdie at the fifth in the second round.
