MOTOR SMASH
YOUNG GIRL KILLED SEVERAL PERSONS INJURED {Pee United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 2!). A fatal motor collision occurred at the intersection of Orakei and Shore roads, Remuera, at mid-day to-day. The victims were; KILLED RUTH BEATRICE WAKBURTON, aged eight years, a daughter of Mr Egbert Reuben Warburton, of Kohimarama, the driver of one of the cars involved. INJURED MRS ANNIE GERTRUDE WARBURTON, wife of Mr Warburton —Injuries to the bead and one arm. GRAHAM WARBURTON, a son, aged 11—Dislocated shoulder,, cuts and abrasions. VALERIE WOOLLEY, aged five, a daughter of Mr and Mrs R. E. Woolley, of Kohimarama —Cuts and abrasions. Mr Warburton escaped injury, as did the driver of the other car involved, Mr Douglas Campbell Purdie, of Parnell. Accompanying Mr Purdie was Air R. A. Singer, of Grafton road, who suffered a cut on the left hand. Miss Ruth Warburton died shortly after being admitted to the Auckland hospital with extensive head injuries. The accident occurred when Mr Warburton was driving his family, accompanied by the girl Woolley, home from church. After the collision, Mr Warburton’s car mounted a grassy bank and came to rest with the radiator against a fencing post. The vehicle was extensively damaged. Mr Purdie’s car did not hear evidence of extensive damage, although the metal work in front was crushed.
