UNITY AND CO-OPERATION

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —I beg to suggest to the community a means which, if loyally put to use and confidently executed, would materially help to solve the problem of unemployment and in time help to control the present monetary system. It is that the arbitration laws should be permanently constructed on a sound basis, pledging to the community equal rights and evenhanded justice. We have been taught through the past ages that unity is strength. Let us then support the cause that demands justice and invokes its principles. I would point out that the masses must be united in this noble cause for humanity. I would suggest that the present system of unionism be abolished, and that the masses amalgamate into a universal body, which would put each and all on the same footing. There would be no strikes and any cause for dissatisfaction arising would be settled by arbitration. All of the combined body would have a definite assurance to any class of labour in which they were proficient. This. I think, is a move in the right direction, for n combined body would be recognised as a means whereby future successes would be achieved. This combined, organised body could, when opportunity offered, place men of ability in office to hold high the cherished hopes of the community as a whole, and step away to some extent from the old outworn system of promise. Let us then in all sincerity and good faith plant the beacon light upon the rock of confidence where its mighty ravs shall gleam forth to the haven of our desire. Unity nnd co-operation will lead us to achieve a noble task to be crowned by a successful issue.—T am etc., Anzac.
