SUNDAY OBSERVANCE
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —May I point out to your correspondent “ Stoke ” the fact that he has evidently overlooked that Joshua’s long day was a miracle? The dictionary tells us that a miracle is a supernatural occurrence or act, wonder, or marvel, and Joshua’s famous day may surely come under that heading. What to Christians should be of paramount importance is, which day did Christ regard as the Sabbath? Surely He, ns the Word who called the days into being, knew which was the true seventh day. The Jewish leaders all down the ages who kept their records so scrupulously may also be permitted to know a little about it. And why do the calendar makers, whose work is based on astronomical knowledge, call Sunday the first day and not the seventh?—l am, etc., July 27. Verity.
