TAIERI COMPETITIONS
Arrangements in connection with the second.annual'festival of the Taieri Competitions Society are now being made by the committee of the 1 society, and it is anticipated that 'even more support will be forthcoming this year than was the case at the society’s first festival. lii order to foster musical training, and to assist the competitions, Messrs Charles Begg and Co., Ltd., of Dunedin, have presented a shield for annual competition between the church choirs of the district. This shield will be known as the “ Chas. Begg and Co., Ltd., Challenge Shield.” In the school choir section the shield, which was used last year and is at present held by St. Mary’s School, will be competed for again. Mr C. Hoy Spademan has been appointed judge of the vocal, piano, and violin music, Mr W. Budge of the pipe music, and Miss Lconore Mackenzie of the elocution classes.,
