ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

TO 'THE'EDITOR., - „ ; ' ’ , Sir —May. I ask- how the Management Committee of the Otago,Football Associatio'n does its -’business?’. At, this week’s meeting it was decided that a-player whp had been ordered < off. the field should' 1 stand down one playing Saturday.. As the. majority present found him guilty, why a suspension for one playing Saturday? Where , cases of the use of obscene language were brought before the committee in the past the players concerned' had a heavier punishment. I ask: Which "is the .more serious case, dangerous play or bad talk on the field?,. .. In this ‘ week’s draw, we have Maori Hill and Northern playing their rjeturfr games versus Mornington and RoslynWakari respectively ■on their home grounds. Surely the, games .should Have been played on neutral grounds. It seems that the Management Committee can dp exactly what it likes with the last-men-tioned teams. .Is it because these, teams are at the bottom of the-table? It is unfair that they should have to play; again on their opponents’ ground. The teams in the lower positions should be treated equally as well as those in better positions, as they may bo leaders bn some future occasion. , Then we have a Selection Committee for the junior representative match played at Southland, lately. All three are prominent members of the clubs—the Tramways, Technical, and Northern—and the team to travel was composed mainly of players from , these teams,, with one from an odd team here and there. The time is now ripe for the Management Committee to appoint a sole selector for these juniors, as the selection was top. bne-eyed altogether. The selectors surely could have looked round for more players from the High School, Leith, Gaversliam, Roslyn, and Y.M.C.A. clubs, all of which could provide players equally as good as; if not better than, those who wereselected.—l am, etc;, JUNIOR. Kaikorai, July 25.’
