WHARF LABOURER’S INJURIES CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION. (PtcK United Prims Association.) TIMARU, July 26. A claim for £IOOO general damages and £lB6 special damages, made by David Mills, a wharf labourer, against the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company, was commenced in the Supreme Court this morning. . The action arose from an accident on the Storm. The plaintiff alleged that, owing to the negligence of the winehman, a net controlled by them got out of control, precipitating the plaintiff into the hold, and seriously injuring him. The plaintiff also alleged, that the defendant company carried on unloading operations under a defective system. The defence was a general denial of the allegations, and that the plaintiff’s injuries were contributed to by plaintiff’s own negligence.
