SHIPWRECK RELIEF

MEETING OF SOCIETY. . A meeting,of the executive, of the Shipwreck Relief Society of New Zealand was held yesterday, in the board room of- the ■ secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson), and was attended by Messrs E. C. Hazlett (chair- I man), G. L. Denniston, J. H. Gilbert. W Clarke. Captain Dillner, and Captain MacPrior •to commencing the business of the meeting the chairman' extended, a welcome to Captain Mac Lean, who was taking his seat for the first time as a mem- j bcr of the executive. In' accordance with. the procedure followed at the first meetins after the aur : nual meeting, nominations were called for : the office of- chairman for the ensuing ' term—Mr Denniston nominated Mr Hazlett, and'aa no further nominations were forthcoming, Mr Hazlett was duly re r appointed. Sleigh forwarded his resignation as a member of the executive.—The resignation was accepted with regret, and it wa s decided to write to, Mr Sleigh, thanking him'for past services.—lt was agreed to request Captain C, M'Donald to accept the vacanev occasioned by Mr Sleigh's resignation.. i A letter was received from the Huddart, | Parker, Steamship Company enclosing ■ cheques for £2 5s and £2 135.-representing collections made qn the M.V. Wanganclla. —The secretary reported that he had ac- i knowledged the donations, his action beina approved* Mr W. A. Cameron wrote agreeing to j act as the secretary's representative at ; Wanganui. The secretary stated that Mr , Cameron had. been transferred from the collectorship of Customs at• Gisborrie to : a similar position at Wanganui. and had i been replaced by Mr (i : Pritchard—J twa s l decided to request; Mr Pritchard to act i us the society's 3 representative at Gis- ' borne.
