MONETARY SILVER
PURCHASES BY AMERICA PRESIDENT SIGNS BILL. WASHINGTON, June 20. (Received June 20, at 11.30 p.m.) The United States Government last night extended, its monetary policy io another field with the signing by President Roosevelt of the Pitman Silver Purchase Bill, which directs the buying of metal by the Treasury until it reaches 25 per cent, of the nation’s metallic monetary stock. The time for silver purchases is left entirely in the hands of the President. Domestic silver is to be purchased at a price not to exceed 50 cents an ounce.
