SUBSIDISED SHIPPING
UNFAIR COMPETITION
1 MR THOMAS QUESTIONED.
London; June 19,
In the House of Commons, Mr H. Boyce (Con.) asked what communications had been received from the Australian and New Zealand Governments in relation to unfair competition by subsidised foreign shipping. Mr Thomas replied that communications were still passing, and he could not make a statement. Mr Walter Runciman, replying to Mr Boyce, said that his information suggested that the Matson Line paid lower wages than the New Zealand shipowners.
