TROTTING NOTES

By Sewthox. Llewellyn’s Pet, who raced promisingly at Timaru, is a half-sister to Impromptu. Young Frank has changed owners, and will join the stable controlled by L. A. Maidens. The rising three-year-old pacer Ironside has been sold by the Durbar Lodge, Ltd., to a patron of J S. Shaw’s stable. Llewellyn’s Pet reached a mark of 3min 29 l-sseo at Timaru, and is on 3min 45seo in the Lyndburst Trot at Ashburton. Ironside went 3min 34 4-osec in the Sapling Stakes, and is on a 3min 45scc mark at the Ashburton Racing Club’s meeting. Insolvent figures amongst the acceptors for the Ashburton meeting, but will have to improve considerably on Timaru form to be worthy of support. The two-year-old gelding Subsidy, who won at Timaru, was got by Key de Oro from Lady Brent, by Brent Locanda — Lady John, by Advance from a Rothschild mare. He stayed on well at the right end of his race, and should be more than usefulnext season.

The Brigand fillv Charter is Vale went 3min 28 l-ssec at Timaru, and will start from 3min 41sec in the Lyndhurst Trot at Ashburton. She will be meeting Wild Dreams 3min 29sec and Llewellyn’s Pet 3min 29 I-ssec with the latter in receipt of 48 yards. An interesting feature of the present system of handicapping is supplied by the Timaru form. Wild Dreams won on a slow track in 3min 29sec from a 3min 45scc mark, and at Ashburton is on 3min 41sec,

R. D. Kennerlcy will return south after the Auckland meeting, and will take stables at Addington. It is expected that he will start with three horses under bis charge, and, alhough, it is not known what they are, it is more than likely that two of themwill be Rayon d'Or and Explosion, • Though he did not earn any money in the New Zealand Sapling Stakes Graham Direct, from F, G. Holmes’s stable, should not be forgotten (says the Press), and generally; he is regarded as one of the most brilliant pacers of his age. His performance in the Sapling Stakes showed him to be possessed of remarkable speed, for after losing a. lot. of ground in the early stages be was still well out of the running with halt a mile to go. From then qn he made up his ground like a champion, and he was in sixth place at the finish,, close behind Gamble and Radiant Gold. Graham Direct has accepted for the Lyndhurst Trot Handicap of a mile and a-half, 3min 45sec class, at Ashburton on Saturday, and a reasonably good, beginning will find him troublesome at the finish. Unfortunately his barrier manners up to the present have not been all that could be desired, but he is usually a good-mannered youngster, and only needs racing experience to fit him for serious business, AUCKLAND TROTS POSTPONED i'Peb United Press Association.)
