STEADY DEMAND FOR FAT CATTLE

Fat (Jattle.—A large yarding of 286 head came forward. The quality on the whole was good, the entry including a fair proportion of prime quality medium steers, with a larger proportion of heifers and cows than usual. There was a steady demand throughout, particularly for prime, handy-weight cattle, which sold at par to a shade firmer. The small number of heavy bullocks forward realised about the same rates as last week. Fat Sheep.—A small, yarding of 1253sheep came forward. The bulk of the entry comprised ewes, only a' few wethers being in evidence.
