ST. KILDA QUEEN CARNIVAL
There were further alterations last night in the positions occupied hy the queens in the St. Hilda Carnival Competition. and the Tramway Queen (Miss Agnew) now occupies first place, with the Surf Queen (Miss C. Idour) second, the Sports Queen (Miss R. Barton) third, and the Municipal Queen (Miss S. Quirk) fourth. It has been found necessary to | change the date of the coronation cere- j mony from June 23 to June 26. and the ; drawing of the art union will also take ! place on the latter date. _ . ] Arrangements for the carnival fair, 1 which is to be held in the Coronation ; Hall, St. Hilda, on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday evenings of this week, are well in hand, and there is every promise that the occasion will be highly successful. Bright and entertaining programmes have been arranged for each afternoon and evening, while the respective queens will preside over attractive stalls. The announcement respecting the | Municipal Queen of the carnival will be made during the fair on Saturday even- ; ing. An illuminated tram car, carrying , the Tramways Band, will traverse the city and St. Hilda lines on Thursday evening, : and on Saturday afternoon a children's i fancy dress competition will be judged by " Big Brother Bill.” of 4YA Broadcast- j ing Station. To-morrow evening, also at i the. Coronation Hall, the Commercial : Travellers’ Entertainers are staging a | special variety concert, at which itenjs of ; a distinctly novel description will be | given. A dance will follow on this occa- | sion, so that patrons may look forward to j an enjoyable time. |
