THE LEEDS TOURNAMENT PADGHAM DEFEATS BREWS. LONDON, June 8. In the semi-finals of the Leeds professional golf tournament Brews defeated Bond, 3 and 2, and Padgham defeated Toorc, 3 and 2. Padgham at one period looked like being beaten by Toore. The diminutive Spaniard was two up at the eighth, but Padgham applied the pressure and won at the sixteenth, after winning four consecutive holes. Brews, a 35-year-old Londoner ani a son of the former professional at Blackheath, went to South Africa and won the open championship of South Africa six times. In view of his consistency at the present meeting it is believed that he holds a sporting chance in the British Open Championship. i FINAL WON AT THIRTT-SEVENTH LONDON, June 0. (Received Juno 10, at 6.30 p.m.) In the final Padgham defeated Brows at the thirty-seventh. A missed four-foot putt at the thirtyseventh cost Brews the match, although to this, stage confident and accurate putting had been a ■ feature of his play. Brews led most of th« way in the first round and ended one up, though both 'ad a round of 71. Padgham drew square at the twentysecond and led for the first time in the match at the twenty-fourth. Brews again squared at the thirty-second, and the next four were halved. Padgham, who was the longer driver, played better seconds, but Brews was superior around or on the greens. NATIONAL TOURNAMENT WON BY OLIN DUTRA. NEW YORK, June 9. (Received June 10, at 8 p.m.) A message from Ardmore (Pennsylvania) states that Oliu Dutra, a Californian professional,, won the National Open Golf Tournament with a score of 293. Sarazcn had 294, Kirkwood tied for twelfth place with 300, and Hagen was sixty-second, almost last, with 318.
