THRONE OF KANDY
A ROYAL PRESENTATION GIFT TO CEYLON. (BrltieL Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 8. The King is anxious that the visit to Ceylon of the Duke of Gloucester should be marked by some expression of his personal favour towards his Cingalese subjects. .He has, accordingly, decided to-restore to Ceylon the ancient throne of the kings of Kandy, which has been preserved at Windsor Castle for 100 years. His Majesty has charged the Duke of Gloucester with the duty of making a formal presentation to the Ceylon Government- and believes that the return of the historic monument will be agreeable to the views widely entertained by all, sections of the community in Ceylon.
