ORKNEY AND SHETLAND CHOIR

MONTHLY CONCERT. Another excellent concert was presented by the Orkney and Shetland Choir to an appreciative audience at the Returned Soldiers’ Association Hall on Saturday evening. The chairman (Mr N. M‘Donald) welcomed the members of the Gaelic Society’s choir, who were to perform. Chief M'Lauchlan, of the Gaelic Society, returned thanks on'their behalf. The opening items were a bracket of Gaelic songs by the choir, which was led bv the conductor (Mr Scott). Duets, which followed, were given by Miss D. Davis and Mr Stewart. Mrs Raey sang ‘'John Anderson” and “Toll, Bells, Toll. Other items were given by the following.—Miss Molly Baker, recitations, “ Polling Dav ” and “ Simple Simon Mr Arthur Lungley, solos, “ Standard on the Braes of Mar,” '‘Loch Lomond, and “Home and You”; a trio, Mrs MRae, Mrs Hastie, and Mrs M'lvor, Gaelic songs; - Mrs Matbieson, solo, “ Angus M'Donald ; Master lan Buckley, humorous recitations; Mr Robert Clark, solo, “Bird Songs at Eventide”; Piper Kenneth Cameron, selections; Miss Doris Davis, solo, Robin Adair”: Mr Scott, solo, “M'Gregor’e George.” The outstanding performer was undoubtedly Miss Ethel Wallace, whose violin solos were delightfully rendered. The concluding items were Gaelic songs by the choir. The accompanists were Miss C. Millow and Mrs A. Matheson. A dance was held at the conclusion of the concert.
