AGED MOTHER'S TRAGIC NEWS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) . SYDNEY, June 1, An aged.mother's wish to.find her lost son and hand to him her savings before she died will never be gratified. Her search has ended in the ■ discovery that he was drowned in the Clarence River some months ago.., The mother is Mrs Bridget .Srhyth, of Torrensville, South Australia, and the son was Matthew Aloysius Smyth, whose body was found in the Clarence last November. The-son left hie mother's home 13 years ago. Recently the mother requested the police to try to trace her son, who was a returned soldier. It was through the Returned Soldiers' League .that the identity of Smyth was established. At the inquest- on Smyth last November it was found that he 'had apparently lost his way arid walked over the edge of a wharf into the river.
