Miss Scoon is at present' on the staff of the Palmerston District High School, and is expected to take up her duties at Balelutha about the middle of June. Mr A. B. Rattray, well known locally as a successful trainer of trotting horses, was entertained at a social on the eve of his departure for Gore, where he has decided to train in future. Yesterday Mr Rattray received a presentation from the sporting community. To-day the Puerua and other district streams were running very high as a result of recent rains. The weather, however, is now clearing. Mr R, Sinclair, a local canary fancier, was successful at the Invercargill Show, securing five prizes with six exhibits in the canary section.
