ROXBURGH There was a very large attendance of players on the golf links on Saturday. Despite the heavy rain of the previous day, the course was in fine order, and in the Men’s Bogey Match some excellent cards were handed in. One player had eight 3’s. The following is the result ot the Men’s Bogey Match: —G. Jeffery all square; A. Lamb, 1 down; J. Jeffery, K. Wright, 2 down; N. M. Sandes, I. M’Lennan, 3 down; T. W. Dingwall, I. Logan, F. J. Laloli, 4 down. In the Ladies’ Match 14 players took part. The following were the best cards: Miss Bayly, 5 down; Mrs Uren, 6 down; Miss George, 7 down; Mrs Gilmour, 7 down; Mrs Laloli, 8 down. . _ On Saturday Coal Creek defeated Roxburgh at football by 8 points to 3 and Miller’s Flat defeated Ettrick by 6 points to 3. A junior match between Roxburgh and Miller’s Flat resulted in a, win for the former by 14 to 6. MIDDLEMARCH A successful concert was held in the Sutton School on Friday evening, haying been organised by the Women’s Institute for the purpose of augmenting the funds of the branch. The weather was favourable and there was a large attendance from the surrounding districts. The programme was as follows: —Chorus, Comrades and Friends,” institute members; pianoforte solo, Miss D. Kinsman; negro chorus, members of the institute; vocal solos—Mrs Boyles, Misses H. Johnstone, and M. M’Adam, Messrs J. Dawson, \V. Jeffries, J. A. Jones, E. Kinsman, and K. Scott; recitations, Miss Joyce Messent and Master Kenneth Kidd; humorous song, Mr J. M’Master; sextet —Mrs Boyles ami Misses H. Johnstone, C. M’Rae, and D. Thompson, and Messrs T. Cairhey, and 11. Scott. Two plays were also given by members of the institute, “A Fashionable Marriage,” by Misses J. ,M Hardy, Johnstone, and E. Young, and Aunt Jane’s Emancipations, by Mrs Boyles, Misses M. Cockerell, J. Kidd, D. Kinsman, A Terry, D. T. Thompson, and Master r! Kidd. Dancing was later indulged in to music supplied by Mrs Finnic and Mr G. Peat. " TAPANUI The second meeting, of householders for the purpose of electing a School Committee was held on Monday evening, when there was an attendance of 24. Mr J. S. Edgar was voted to the chair, and explained the necessity of holding the meeting, and added that the only business to be transacted was the election of a committee. He then called for nominations, and nine householders were nominated, which necessitated a ballot. The following were elected: —Messrs F. A. Kroning, David Edgar, J. S. Edgar, J. Gosden. W. Rutherford, A. H. Dowall, and R. Kirk. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr J. S. Edgar, was appointed chairman and Mr A. H. Dowall secretary.
