THE KUROW DISTRICT
On Monday evening a meeting convened to form a debating club in Kurow was well attended. The following executive was elected: —President, the Rev A. H. Nordmeyer; vice-president, Mr A, Hayes; secretary and treasurer. Mr I, Johnson: committee —Miss B. Cairns and Mr A. W. F. O’Reilly. An attractive syllabus catering for diverse tastes has been planned •Owing to a severe epidemic of measles in the Upper Waitaki district, over half the children being affected, the committee of the Kurow District High School, after having consulted the Otago Education Board, decided to close the schools for a fortnight. They will reopen on June 5.
