TWO YEARS' PROBATION
__ «.. THEFTS BY POSTAL CLERK WAR SERVICE AFFECTS STABILITY. (Peb United Press association.) AUCKLAND, May 21. Robert James Gilli.es, aged 37, a postal clerk, of Ngaruawahia, was admitted to two years' probation by Mr Justice Ostler, when he appeared for sentence on two charges of theft. It was stated that lie had an unblemished record until the thefts, which involved £2l.
Counsel said the prisoner had had difficulty in carrying on his household, and the strain had affected his mental stability., * His Honor said he would take into account the comparative smallness of the theft and the fact that prisoner's stability had been affected by war service.
