ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

TO THE EI'ITOB. Sin, —On reading the report of your Monday night's meeting I was surprised to see the attitude taken up by the old members of the O.F.A. concerning the Mosgiel Club and a particular referee. They will agree with me that a meeting was held at Mosgiel in 1933 in connection with a complain; from that club. The delegates from the O.F.A. were Mr Simpson and Mr L. Scott; from the Keferces' Club were Mr M'Callum and Mr W. P. Smith. The outcome of that meeting was an undertaking from both these associations that this referee would not at any time be asked to officiate in matches in which the 7>losgiel Club was engaged. On May 12 last, however, through someone's mi.-dake he was again put in front of the Mosgiel Club. Now, why did these four delegates give Mosgiel Club the guarantee? I take it that Mr Simpson was not at Monday night's meeting, as,he could have thrown a good deal of light on the subject and, perhaps, have kept Mr Ball from getting sick, and be could also have assured the chairman that the guarantee was for all time.

I should also like to point out that the chairman (Mr Sharp) had no right to suggest or say to Mr Steven that he could have no complaint against the refereeina last Saturday. This is not a personal matter with Mr Steven, and at the same time any school boy could have rcfereed last Saturday's match between Mo.sgiel and Rosiyn-Wakari.—T am, etc., Ex-COJIJiI'ITEE.
