QUAIL SHOOTING TRAGEDY {Per United Press Association.) ' AUCKLAND, May 10. Frederick Ashton Price, aged 55, a well-known slieep farmer of Papatoetoe, went quail shooting yesterday afternoon and failed to return. After a two hours search tbo body was found on the slippery slope of a gully with a wound in the chest. An inquest was opened and adjourned. A TRAGIC OCCURRENCE CHILD FATALLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, May 20. Rushing out to greet his uncle who had just arrived in a car, Seymour Redwavne. aged four years, a son of Mr R. V". Redwayne, a farmer, of Sanson, bumped into the rear mudguard as the driver was backing the car into the garage. He died instantly, supposedly from a broken neck. MESSENGER INJURED STRUCK BY MOTOR CAR. (Pee United Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, May 20. James Carruthers, aged 15, a telegraph messenger, was knocked off his bicycle in Tainui street about 6 p.m. on Saturday by a motor car which, it is alleged, did not stop. The lad, who joined the Postal Department only recently, was sent to hospital with serious head injuries and to-night was still unconscious. The police later charged a motorist with being intoxicated while in charge of a car. FOOTBALLER INJURED While playing Association football at Maori Hill on Saturday. John Sands, a married man, 31 years of age, residing at Carlton street, North-East Valley, suffered a fracture of the right leg. He was admitted to the hospital at 3.50 p.m. ELDERLY WOMAN'S FALL Margaret l!eid Dempster, a single woman, 84 yeyrs of age. fell from a chair at her home in Union street yesterday morning and suffered a compound fracture of the left lee. She was admitted to the hospital at dood.
