EMPIRE GAMES

■■ - ♦" —.. NON-INCLUSION OF JARVIS. PROTEST FROM OTAGO CENTRE. In consequence of the telegram received on Wednesday from the secretary of the -New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games Association advising that the association-had decided not to include W. J. Jarvis in the New Zealand team for the Empire Games, the secretary of the Otago Swimming Centre has written to the secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association asking that the council of that body should enter a strong protest against the Otago swimmer's non-inclusion. The letter urges that in view of Jarvis's outstanding performances in competitive and trial swimming and the fact that the centre is prepared to launch an appeal for the necessary funds, the association might yet alter its decision if the New Zealand Swimming Council were to support the Otago Centre's representations. The letter adds that the centre would still v bc prepared to make a hurried appeal for funds should Jarvis's nomination be accepted.
