GLAMOUR OF PANTOMIME

AID TO A HOSPITAL Wrexham, one of the most hard-hit towns in North Wales, was recently drowning its troubles in the glamour of a pantomime. And all for the sake of the local hospital. The man responsible for the show is Mr Walter Roberts. The Walter Roberts Amateur Pantomime Company takes a local theatre for a week and gives 18 performances to packed houses, and so far the annual productions have made a profit of £12,478. Recently the productions have averaged a profit of £IOOO yearly. The money is handed to the Wrexham War Memorial Hospital, in which the pantomime has endowed nine beds. The. whole town takes a hand in the pantomime. There is a cast of over 80 performers, all local people, and the scenery, dresses, and dances are all devised there.
