The president (Mr John Mitchell) , occupied the chair. : '■■./ ‘ 'X-.: U'/r-’"'’’ - ■ -• , TRANSFERS/ « \ : . ~G. T. Beilby wrote asking if he would be, required to obtain ’a transfer,,from the Christchurch Training College Club to the Alexandra Club. If so r be, applied, for a transfer.—lf was decided to advise the applicant to apply to the Vincent Subunion; A. Shanks applied for a transfer from the Heriot Club to the Kaikorai Club, R, JE. Heenan from Palmerston to University, J.M'Fadyen from Henley to Kuikorai, and J. ,E. Beaton from Bluff to Kaikorai. —The transfers were granted. ALL BLACK SELECTORS. Mr W. Pearson was nominated as a selector for New Zealand teams. TOURING SUB-UNION TEAM. Th«< secretaries of the Eastern District, South Tuapeka, and Tuapeka Subunions wrote approving, of the suggested extension of the tour, of the Otago subunions' team to include matches with Ashburton and South Canterbury.—The matter was held over. till replies had been received from the other sub-unions concerned. ’ . . The secretary of the Ashburton Union wrote asking if it would be possible for Otago to play,a match at Ashburton this season.—The request was held over in the meantime.: ■ ASSISTANCE TO CLUBS; Mr J. B. Wootton (chairman of the Flag Committee) said his committee recommended that all the senior matches whieh should ,have been played on Saturday last be played on June 4, and that the proceeds be given to the clubs. This match would take the place of the seven-a-side tournament. His committee made this recommendation because it was looking ahead. They might not.be able to play on every Saturday and this was to meet eventualities. In answer to a question, it was stated by the- chairman that it would, no doubt, be possible to make a grant also to clubs which did not have senior fifteens. This point could be considered again when the proceeds were being allotted. Members agreed that the recommendation had much to commend it, as the seven-a-side tournaments held previously had not proved a great success financially. • t The recommendation was approved. ' GREEN ISLAND CLUB. The secretary of the Green Island Club advised that his club was now able to enter a team in the Fourth Grade com petition if two or three players who were over age were permitted to play. The club would, if desired, waive , any flag points that might be secured. Mr D. M. Stuart said it seemed hardly fair that the Green Island Club was having players transferred to it from Dunedin clubs, and now it desired to play overage hoys. It was decided to communicate with the Green Island Club and ask the age and weight of the three boys over-age whom it was desired to play. It was also decided to grant permission to the Green Island Club to play a match on Saturday on the distinct understanding that the committtee would have the right to say what boys should be entitled to play. The match, it was made clear, would not be counted as a competition game. It was stated that the committee had already agreed that two over-age boys might be allowed to play in teams which applied for such a dispensation, but that the final decision would rest with the committee. INTERPROVINCIAL GAMES. The secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Union wrote confirming July 25 as the date for its match against Otago at Dunedin. The secretary of the Canterbury Union wrote confirming August 4 as the date for the Payne Trophy match and August 11 as the date of the Canterbury-Otago match. Both matches will be played in Dunedin. INCIDENT CLOSED. Mr R. Herd wrote in connection with remarks passed by him at the annual meeting of the Kaikorai Football Club. He said he desired to state that at the time he made the remarks the circular concerning the notice of motion to be presented at the annual meeting of delegates by the Southern Club—namely, that the committtee of the Otago Union

should appoint the Referees’ Appointment Board, had not been placed before the Kaikorai Club. He had been under the impression that the Otago Union was sponsoring the notice of motion. Under that mistaken impression he had expressed opinions which he now regretted, and he wished to withdraw them... ; . Mr D. C. Jolly: Is-that about the committee of the union being “old women"? -—(Laughter.) - Mr H. Harris feaid that Mr Herd had seen the error of his ways, and he had been man enough to apologise. He would move that the letter be received. The motion was carried. DRAW FOR SATURDAY The following is the draw for Saturday, with grounds and referees: First Grade.—Union v.
