An accident on the Oriental parade on the evening of August 26, when three women were struck by a motor car from behind and knocked down* had a sequel in the Supreme Court to-day, when Sirs Janet Scott Beck, of Wellington, sought £940 8s 6d special and general damages from George Joseph Wakem, soft goods manufacturer, of Wellington, the driver of the car. . Mrs Beck alleged that the collision was due to the unskilful management and control by the defendant of his car. After a retirement of 35 minutes the jury returned with a verdict for the plaintiff, awarding £370 general and £l4O 8s 6d special damages. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) said that in his view it was a very just verdict.
