(Received March 14, at 5,5 p.m.) The, Board of Trade has issued instructions as to the survey of passenger steamers registered in the United Kingdom and engaged in the.carriage of large numbers of unbertlied passengers or pilgrims in certain trades in the Far East. The instructions deal with subdivision and kindred matters, and the provision of life-saving appliances and fire fighting equipment on such steamers, and they are based on rules drawn up at a conference held in Simla in 1931, which was attended by' representatives of the Governments directly interested in the pilgrim traffic.
