The Tomozuru capsized owing to the very heavy seas. Aeroplanes vainly searched for survivors, but all the 106 men who were on board arc given up as lost. The Tomozuru is one of the newest torpedo boats. She is a vessel of 527 tons. The occurrence recalls a similar tragedy in which the destroyer Sawarabi capsized in Formosa Strait in 1932, when 104 persons were drowned.
