MILL HAND’S DEATH (Per United Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI, March 13. Gordon Mack, aged 20, a mill hand, was struck across the forehead by a wire rope while at work to-day. He was brought to the Taumarunui Hospital with a deep wound over the left eye and died without regaining consciousness. CAR CRASHES THROUGH , WINDOW, (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 13. A car driven by Miss Ruth Hay crashed into Messrs Adams, Bruce, and Co.’s shop window shortly after 5 o’clock this evening. Mr C, S. Clarke, New Zealand manager, for the British Tradeis’ Insurance Company, w|io was walking up Willis street, was knocked through the plateglass window by the front of the car and was later taken to hospital. Mr Clarke received a compound fracture of the right leg and. minor cuts. Miss Hay, the sole occupant of the. car, was severely shaken. WEST COAST MINE TRAGEDY (Special to Daily Times.) CREYMOUTH, March 13. An elderly man named Holland Eckersley, an old employee of the Westport Coal Company, was found lying dead on the Dennistou' incline, alongside. the rope road yesterday. His head was crushed. It is not clear how the accident occurred, but. it is assumed That Eckersley was struck by a coal wagon which was passing down the incline as he was oiling the points. The deceased, leaves a widow and one .son. MOTOR ENGINEER INJURED Clarence Umbers, a motor engineer, 38 years of age, living, at 26 Alexander street, St. Clair, was admitted to tha Hospital at 12.5 p.m. yesterday suffering from a deep gash in the left wrist. He was using a chisel while repairing a car ■when the tool slipped and inflicted the injury mentioned. CYCLIST AND MOTOR COLLIDE Ivan Payne, 15, years of age, living at 44 Main North road, North-East Valley, was admitted to the Hospital at 12.50 p.m. suffering from head injuries and abrasions. He was cycling down Smith street from the Boys’ High School whoa he collided with a motor car.'
